Mustefa Abakeno is a coffee producer in the Jimma area of ​​western Ethiopia. He manages an 18-hectare farm located at 2,040 meters above sea level, growing several coffee varieties developed by the Jimma research center. From the beginning, he invested in a three-disc pulper, which allowed him to process part of the harvest using the washed method, in addition to producing natural coffee. In 2021, agronomist Harun joined the project, training Mustefa and the local farmers. Thanks to his support, numerous improvements have been introduced:

shade nets to protect the coffee during drying;

more rigorous cherry selection;

separation of daily batches;

constant humidity monitoring;

experimentation with stumping to increase productivity.

Overall, Mustefa Abakeno is considered an innovative producer who has invested in infrastructure, training, and quality control, contributing not only to producing high-quality coffee but also to the economic development of the farming community in the Jimma region.
